N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown City Council recently made motion to begin clearing fallen trees in local river channels this month.

In August 2016, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers reached out that trees along the bank of Pipestem Creek and the James River had been submerged and died in the waters.

Pipestem Dam Manager Bob Martin reported that issues had been occurring since 1993 with the trees.

When asked in 2016, City Administrator Jeff Fuchs reported that there was no initial plan to remove trees in the channels due to several circumstances.

During a the regular city council meeting in January, the council made motion to begin clearing trees in the channels starting near Nickeus Park. Martin has some more information.
