(NewsDakota.com) The Oakes High School boys basketball team had been so close to a victory more than a few times in the course of the 2016-17, but on Tuesday night, that first win came in a 49-46 victory over South Border.

Layne Schmit had a team high 15 points, and Tyler Voightman added another 12 to give the Tornadoes the win. Tristan Lippert lead the Mustangs (5-4, 1-0 Class B District 6) with a total of 25 points.
