N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The two year wait is over for the James River Valley Library System.

On Monday, January 30th, the new Bookmobile arrived in Jamestown. A member of OBS Inc. of Canton, Ohio made the 1,126 mile journey Sunday and will fly back Tuesday. Joe Rector is the Library Director and says they’re excited to begin their service to the county.

The $239,501 bookmobile provides numerous new amenities that the original bookmobile couldn’t offer.

Development Director Bill Kennedy stated that the bookmobile service just as many areas in Jamestown as they do in the entire county. Employees of both the Stutsman County Library and Alfred Dickey Library were trained Monday to drive and use the vehicle.

Rector says the bookmobile will be increasing their days of service from 7 to 10 and will be able to service daycare’s and senior citizen center’s in Jamestown and Stutsman County.

The rig also features a familiar face with “White Cloud” reading a book. The nearly 10-ton vehicle will be able to carry over 2,000 books to all of Stutsman County. It’s estimated to be ready for service by the end of this week.
