CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – City-County Health District in Valley City will highlight the vital role that public health plays in keeping our community healthy during “Public Health Day” on February 8th. The theme for Public Health Day is “Public Health: Assuring a Healthier ND.”

City-County Health will collaborate with the North Dakota Public Health Association, the North Dakota State Association of City and County Health Officials, and the North Dakota Department of Health to speak with the legislature and public about key public health activities that protect the public and promote healthy behaviors.

Local public health units provide the following key activities to assure a healthier North Dakota: immunizations, tobacco prevention and cessation, chronic disease prevention, public health screenings, maternal and child home visits, environmental health and injury prevention.

According to Theresa Will, CCHD director, the day will provide an opportunity to highlight the importance local public health plays in the everyday lives of North Dakota residents.
