(NewsDakota.com) In their final regular season game of the 2016-17 season, the Oakes High School girls basketball team defeated Milnor-North Sargent 72-34 Monday night.

Oakes (9-10, 1-5 Class B District 5) went on a 9-0 run in the first 1:09 of the game and never looked back. The Tornadoes had a team high 18 points from Nicole Schmitz, while Sadie Hansen added another 17.

MNS (4-15, 1-10 Class B Region I) who was outscored 15-7 in the second quarter was lead in scoring by Hannah Anderson with nine points

The Tornadoes now enter post-season play as the #6 seed in the Class B District 5 tournament. Their opening round contest Friday at the Jamestown Civic Center will come against #3 Barnes County North; a team they lost to by a single point on January 6.
