Mary Schall Elm, 89, passed away at the Sheyenne Care Center in Valley City, ND on February 16, 2017.  She was born November 4, 1927 in Lisbon, ND to Leo and Nellie (Martin) Schall.  Margaret attended school in Litchville and later moved to St. Paul, MN.  She was employed at Buck-Bee-Mears for 20 years.

On April 20, 1985, she married Warren Elm in St. Paul, MN.  Following her retirement, they returned to Warren’s home place near Litchville, ND.

Margaret enjoyed music and taught herself to play violin, banjo, mandolin, and piano.  She shared her love of music by entertaining in surrounding community events.  She also enjoyed painting scenic oil pictures.  Margaret participated in several Bible study groups with friends in later years.  She and Warren helped people with daily living who couldn’t be alone in their home.

She is survived by her husband, Warren; sisters, Doris Aas and Joyce Rodin; son, Burnell; daughter, LaVonne Pasiuk; son-in-law, Dennis Johnson; 5 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Leo; sister-in-law, Margaret Schall; sister, Esther Matt; brothers-in-law, George Matt, David Aas, and Don Rodin; a daughter, Loreen Marie; and son-in-law, Eugene Pasiuk.

The funeral service for Margaret Elm will be held in the Sheyenne Care Center Chapel on Monday, February 20, 2017 at 1:30 PM.  Visitation will be held there an hour prior to the service.  Burial will be in Memory Gardens near Valley City in the spring.
