(NewsDakota.com) Class B District 5 was victorious in three of the four opening round games over their District 6 counterparts in the Class B Region III Tournament at the Jamestown Civic Center Monday.

Medina-Pingree/Buchanan 51 Oakes 39

The District 6 champs were the only ones to advance to Tuesday’s play, thanks to a 21-8 first quarter run, and managing to shoot just under 45 percent from the field for the course of the game.

The Thunder had a team high 12 points from Megan Moser. Shelby Roney, in her final game as a Tornado, lead her team with 15 points.

Edgeley-Kulm-Montpelier 62 Napoleon/Gackle-Streeter 47

In the second game, it seemed like the Rebels were going to roll past the Imperials early; as they lead 13-4 after one. However, NGS worked their way back into the contest to take a one-point lead at intermission.

The Imperials wouldn’t have the lead for long, as EKM put up 27 points in the third and never looked back. The Rebels had 19 points from Katie Entzi, and NGS also had 19 from Kaylin Weigel.

Carrington 51 South Border 41

The District 5 champs scored 23 of their points off of 16 Mustang turnovers to advance to the semifinals with a team high 11 points from Jill Endres. South Border, which only shot 31 percent from the field, was lead by Elizabeth Dalke with 16 points.

LaMoure-Litchville/Marion 43 Kidder County 36

In spite of trailing by as much as eight points, the Loboes were able to rally to pick up the victory.

Anna Holen had 15 points to lead the Loboes. Grace Benz picked up 10 points for Kidder County in the defeat.
