CITY , N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Former Barnes County Veteran Service Officer Chad Clement accused current VSO Angela Hunt of falsifying her time card earlier this month.

Barnes County State Attorney Carl Martineck investigated the accusation and said the allegations by Clement are unfounded. He said Hunt has been cleared of any wrong doing.

Clement also asked Martineck if the Barnes County Commission violated their employee policy manual by accepting health insurance. Martineck said the commission did nothing wrong.

Clement addressed these issues of concern during a regular Barnes County board meeting on February 21st.

Earlier this month, Barnes County Commission Chairman Mike Metcalf said he has received positive feedback from area veterans who have been served by Angela Hunt. Metcalf added, during her month long medical leave other Veteran Service Officers filled in for her on Tuesday’s and Thursday’s.

Local veteran Lennie Muir of Valley City said Hunt has provided excellent services. He also applauded the county for providing transportation services for he and other veterans who don’t have a vehicle to get to the V.A. Clinic in Fargo.

North Dakota Disabled Veterans Association Veteran Service Officer Supervisor Bryan Watters was also at the commission meeting. He said Barnes County has one of the highest ratings in state for veteran services. He said Angela Hunt has done a good job.

Clement said he will continue his investigation of these issues of concern to him and other taxpayers. He is also in the process of forming an LLC called Barnes County Taxpayers for the Truth. He may pursue civil charges against the county for defrauding the taxpayers.

Barnes County Veteran Service Officer Angela Hunt was present at the February 21st meeting. Hunt told NewsDakota.com that she had no comment.

Barnes County State’s Attorney Carl Martineck did not comment after the meeting but he told NewsDakota.com that a response from the county will be released later.
