N.D. (AP) — North Dakota’s two U.S. senators will be in Drayton on Thursday to discuss flood preparation in northeastern North Dakota this spring.

Sens. John Hoeven and Heidi Heitkamp will meet with federal, state and local officials in the afternoon. The meeting is aimed at making sure communities are prepared for possible flooding.

After the flood outlook meeting, Hoeven and Heitkamp will tour Drayton’s earthen levee.

The recent flood outlook from the National Weather Service shows an increased risk for moderate to major flooding in the northern Red River Valley. The outlook also projects near-record runoff for the Devils Lake Basin.
