N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – At halftime, Ellendale held a one-point lead over Hillsboro-Central Valley, but the second half was all Burros. They rolled to a 66-41 win and into the state championship.

HCV started the game cold from the field and were shooting just 31% from the field against the Ellendale 2-3 zone at halftime. The Cardinals in turn shot 52% and got nine early points from Brennen Vance.

In the second half, the Burros outscored the Cardinals 41-15.

Burro senior Kyle Henningsgard dropped 28 points and knocked down five triples. But it was HVC big man Jack Camrud who the Cardinals had no answer for. He finished with 15 points and 18 rebounds.

Ellendale won the rebounding battle against Trinity on Thursday, but were beaten 37-25 on the glass Friday night.  Vance lead the Cards with 15 points and Luke Wertz chipped in with 10.

The loss sends Ellendale to the third place game and they will play either Oak Grove or Four Winds/Minnewauken at 6pm on Saturday night.
