CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Investigators say a fire appears to be suspicious in Valley City.

Fire fighters and police responded to a fire at 476 5th Ave Northeast Saturday morning around 4:20am on March 18th.

Assistant Fire Chief Ron Burchill said flames were visible coming out of the east entrance of the home when crews arrived on the scene. Burchill said no one was injured and the entire house received smoke and water damage. He said the house can no longer be occupied and the homeowners have had to find another place to live.

Fire Chief Gary Retterath said investigators believe the cause of the fire is suspicious and is under investigating by the State Fire Marshall.

Police Chief Phil Hatcher said no one has been arrested but the Bureau of Criminal Investigation is assisting the Valley City Police Department in this fire investigation.
