N.D. (JimmieAthletics.com) – Jamestown posted 16 runs in each of two victories over Waldorf (Iowa) University Sunday, winning 16-3 and 16-9 at Al Buckley Field. 

Emma Keller (JR/Poulsbo, WA) homered twice, tripled and drove in five runs and Tifani Schorzman (JR/Coeur d’Alene, ID) also went deep as the Jimmies needed just five innings to take game one, 16-3. Jamestown racked up 17 hits off starting pitcher Kaylie Brindley (5-5).

Hanna Dunnigan (SR/Regina, SK) was 3-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI while Kylie Macaig (SO/Airdrie, AB) had three hits, scored three times, and knocked in three. Mikayla Frost (FR/Melba, ID), Marissa Duchi (JR/Redding, CA), and Linda Ontiveros (SR/Yuma, AZ) all had two hits.

UJ scored in every inning except the fourth, and put up five in the second, six in the third, and four in the fifth.  

Dunnigan pitched a complete game, running her record to 8-4. She struck out six and allowed one earned run on four hits.

Jamestown scored 16 more runs in game two on the way to a 16-9 win. Duchi had two home runs among her three hits, scored three runs, and drove in six. Keller homered for the third time on the day and Ontiveros connected for her first long ball of the season. 

The Jimmies led 5-0 going into the bottom of the third, only see Waldorf get back into the game on Kennedy Vinchattle’s grand slam. Her seventh home run cut the lead to 5-4.

Ontiveros homered to make it 6-4 Jimmies in the fourth, but the Warriors tied it up with two runs in the bottom of the fourth.

Emma Gilbert (FR/Kelowna, BC) scored on an error and Frost’s two-run single gave Jamestown some breathing room at 9-6. After holding the home team scoreless in the bottom of the fifth, UJ tacked on four runs coming on four hits and an error to go ahead 13-6.

Waldorf continued the offensive outburst with three runs in the bottom of the sixth to get within four runs, 13-9.  Duchi’s three-run blast in the top of the seventh put an exclamation point on the game, putting the Jimmies ahead by seven runs. 

Frost and Duchi each had three of Jamestown’s 17 hits. Keller, Ontiveros, Kaitlyn Combo (SO/Yuba City, CA), Emma Gilbert, and Miriah Yoder (SO/Devils Lake, ND) all finished with two hits.

Brittany Rheault (JR/West Fargo, ND) (6-3) worked four innings for the win. She allowed six runs, four earned, on five hits. Keller worked 1 2/3 innings and gave up three runs, just one of which was earned, on six hits. Dunnigan got the final four outs for her fifth save of the season.

Jamestown (20-12, 5-1 NSAA) plays Waldorf (9-9, 4-4) in a doubleheader Monday beginning at 1:30 p.m.
