CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Luis da Vinha, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Valley City State University will speak on the decline of the American public’s trust in government and the growth of polarization within our society.

Da Vinha, will invite discussion on these trends and highlight their relationship with America’s political institutions. He will point out how the evolution of both the formal and informal political institutions in the United States have contributed to this current state of affairs and served as the catalyst for the victory of Donald Trump in the November 8th 2016 Presidential election.

Dr. da Vinha came to VCSU from Portugal where he worked as a guest researcher at the University of Minho and as the head of the Geographic Information Bureau at Camara Municipal de Coimbra. He has published a variety of topics in political science and geography.

Everyone is invited to attend this free event on Monday, March 27th, 7pm at the Barnes County Museum in Valley City.
