CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Investigators say a house fire at 476 5th Avenue Northeast in Valley City was intentionally set according to the State Fire Marshall. The fire was reported on March 18th around 4:20am.

Valley City Fire Chief Gary Retterath talked about the origin of where the fire was intentionally set inside the home.

Valley City Police Chief Phil Hatcher said the North Dakota Bureau of Criminal Investigation continue to investigate the suspicious fire at 476 5th Avenue Northeast in Valley City.

Meanwhile, I (Steve Urness) erroneously reported yesterday that the fire occurred at 545 3rd Avenue Northeast in Valley City. I extend a thousand apologies to the family who lives at that location. No fire was ever reported at that location in Valley City. I apologize to the family for my gross error in reporting a story I posted on April 19th.
