CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Maple Valley School district voters will be going back to the polls on April 25th to vote up or down on a school bond issue.

Superintendent Brian Wolf said the measure asks patrons to support a $14.3 million dollar school bond issue that would shut-down two schools in the district and pay for an addition to the existing structure in Tower City to centralize the Maple Valley School District.

Wolf talked about the upcoming vote with Steve Urness on KOVC’s Voice of the Valley program on April 20th.

The special election will be held on April 25th inside the Tower City Community Center from 7am to 7pm.

In September of 2016, voters narrowly defeated the referendum as those who supported it with a vote of 59.76 percent. Under state law, 60 percent is needed to pass.

This is the fourth attempt by the Maple Valley school district to pass a referendum to consolidate the district into one building. In two previous special elections voters defeated a $10.3 million school bond issue.
