CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) A crash between a Valley City Police squad car and an Open Door Center van injured a police officer on April 21st around 4:26pm.

Valley City Police Chief Phil Hatcher said the van and the squad car collided in the middle of Main Street near the intersection of 2nd Avenue Northeast.

Hatcher said the Barnes County fire and rescue squad had to extricate the officer from the squad car. The officer was transported to the hospital where he was treated and released.

The occupants inside the Open Door Center van were transported to the hospital for observation. So far no other injuries have been reported.

The Barnes County Sheriff’s office is conducting the investigation into the cause of the crash.
