Coaches Comments

The score seems lopsided, but the play was not.  Each of our girls
competed hard at each spot and was in every point and every game.  It was
fun to watch and the girls had a blast playing today.

Reagan and Cali knocked off the defending doubles state champions at #1
doubles.  Both are anticipating and playing smart tennis.  Cali stood in
at the net when Maddie A teed off on forehands – returning several for
winners.  Reagan went Beast Mode at the net.  Even with the win, both
players still had very good reflection on what we can do to become even
better.  In singles, Reagan had the defending state singles champion and
played very great points and games.  Cali played and won the highest level
#3 singles match I have ever watched.  Cali¹s game has improved so much in
the off season with her own hard work and dedication and it payed
dividends today.

Breanna and Angela played the best doubles of their careers today.  The
consistency and placement from the baseline, the put-a-ways at the net,
the teamwork, the footwork were all at a higher level than last season in
only our first EDC match of the season. These two are going to be fun to
watch at #2 doubles this season.

Hannah D. played an opponent that moved the ball well giving us fits.
Hannah tried to take the net, but Brooke had the answer in lobs and
passing shots.  Hannah is very coachable and implemented what the coaches
told her.  She will continue to grow with experience.  Keep your chin up
and keep working hard.

Hannah A. got stronger the further in her match she went.  After losing
the first set, she came back from 5-2 in the second to tie it at 5-5.
Hannah moved her feet and racket prepped which in turn kept the ball deep
so she could dictate points.  She was moving her opponent around and
hitting winners.  This was by far the best match Hannah has played.  Great
job!

Kallie and Katie were having trouble with the placement of Red River¹s
lobs and angled cross court ground strokes.  We will continue to get
better with more experience and practice so when we see this type of play
again, we will be successful.  Both Kallie and Katie go for the ball at
the net and attempt to put the ball away.  They are fearless at the net
and aggressive.
