(NewsDakota.com) The Enderin/Maple Valley baseball team started hot Saturday, and that solid start propelled them to a 13-9 victory against Oakes at Cummings Field.

The Falcons (3-2 Class B Region I) put up seven runs in the first inning on seven hits, the sixth and seventh coming from center fielder Dustin Kasowski.

EMV would add another run in the third before Oakes found some rhythm in the middle innings but it wouldn’t be enough. The Tornadoes would score three runs in each of the third, fourth and fifth innings, including a three run home run from Taylor Schall.

Jacob Johnson earned the win, lasting three and one thirds innings, allowing five runs and striking out six. Taylor Schall took the loss, lasting three inning, allowing six earned runs on six hits with one strikeout.

The two teams will meet again on Tuesday at Hendrickson Field in Enderlin. Coverage on KDDR-AM 1220/95.9 FM and NewsDakota.com will start at 4:45 p.m., with first pitch at 5 p.m.
