N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown baseball received one of the 15 at-large bids into the NAIA Baseball Opening Round tournaments. The Jimmies are 40-19 after falling 5-3 to Mayville State in the NSAA Championship.

They are headed to Hutchinson, KS to play games beginning Monday.

Jamestown is the number four seed and will play fifth-seeded Concordia (NE) in the first game of the week. Clark (IA) is the tournament’s top-seed with Missouri Baptist and Tabor College (KS) as the two and three, respectively.

Jamestown and Concordia played four times during the regular season split the games. The Bulldogs won an extra inning game 4-1 and a pitcher’s duel 1-0. Jimmie ace Jerome Byndloss beat them in the other two games. 

First pitch for the Jimmies and Bulldogs is scheduled for 11am with the winner having to come back and play Clarke at 6pm.

Forty-five teams will play for spots in the NAIA World Series at nine different sites around the country.

Mayville State was awarded the two-seed in the Oklahoma City bracket. Bellevue is the host of their own opening round tournament will be the top-seed.
