CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) Nearly 160 people participated in the annual Crop Walk for Hunger event on May 10th in Valley City.

Co-event coordinator Sharon Buhr said 157 people and four dogs participated in the annual Crop Walk for Hunger event. She said twenty percent of the money raised from this event will go to the Barnes County Food Pantry with the rest going to Church World Service Crop for Hunger relief and development work across the globe.

The CROP WALK for HUNGER was held to fight hunger here at home and globally. Over 800 million people in the world do not have access to clean water. She said some of the funds will go toward digging wells and putting in hand pumps so people do not have to walk an average of 3 miles to fetch their water.
