L. Neumiller, 87, of Jamestown, ND, formerly of Medina, ND, passed away at his home under hospice care.

Vergil Lee Neumiller was born July 28, 1929, in Lake Williams, ND, the son of Theodore and Jennie (Radke) Neumiller. As a child, he moved with his family to a farm south of Heaton, ND where he attended school, graduating from Kidder County School in 1945. Vergil married Gertrude Hauf on October 14, 1955 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Woodworth, ND. They lived on the Hauf farm for a few years near Woodworth. In 1963, they moved to Medina where they made their home for 47 years. Vergil worked for Farmers Union for a few years, then Lindberg Bros. in Jamestown. He then worked at the Knetter Cheese Factory in Medina for 22 years.

Vergil enjoyed playing cards and teaching his grandchildren how to play. He also liked putting puzzles together, fishing, and gardening.

Vergil is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gertrude Neumiller, Jamestown; daughters, Carol (Lonny) Brakel, Grand Forks, ND and Jennie (Tim) Walker, Jamestown; son-in-law, Bradley Gabrielson, Jamestown; daughter-in-law, Jana Neumiller, Wahpeton, ND; six grandchildren, Amber (Mark) Dockter, Ana Brakel, Zach Gabrielson, Lena Brakel, Allison Walker and Nicole Walker; step-grandchildren, Brent Walker and Tyson Walker; sisters, Lois Weber and Shirley Fruhwirth, both of Lakewood, CA; sister, Gloria (Don) Thieson, Bozeman, MT; sister, Helen (Gary) Rosenau, Bordulac, ND; sisters-in-law, Ann Neumiller and Patricia Neumiller, both of Casper, WY, and Frieda Hauf, Jamestown, ND; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Doug; daughter, Polly; and brothers, Glen and Gordon.

Funeral Service: 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Jamestown, with Pastor Lucinda Lien officiating.

Visitation: 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at Williams Funeral Home, Jamestown.

Interment: Medina Cemetery, Medina, ND.
