N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Civic Center and Promotion Committee heard from Jamestown Tourism on their plans to create a way for people to donate to their future monument renovations.

Jamestown Tourism Executive Director Searle Swedlund informed the committee Tuesday evening that the “Dakota Thunder” monument would be in need of extensive renovations in the future.

Swedlund informed the committee of their “Feed the Buffalo” initiative, which would put a smaller model of the buffalo near the site for individuals to donate to the renovation costs.

The committee approved the group to use up to $8,000 to create the donation receptacle and place it on site. They also approved of creating a fund for future renovation costs within the city for donations to be collected and saved.

Swedlund stated they would like to locate the receptacle somewhere out of the way, but where individuals could see it.

The location was approved.
