N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Public School Board met in regular session Monday evening.

The board discussed several items including the approval of a new grant for the 2017-2018 School Year Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program in the amount of $49,800. They also approved a foreign exchange student, Gabriela Periera from Brazil, for the next school year. She will be staying with the Kraehenbuehl family.

Later in the meeting, several personnel changes were discussed. One included the transfer of Kim Jorrison from Jamestown North to the Middle School for Reading/Foreign Language. Board President Roger Haut informed the board that their approval wasn’t needed to make that decision.

Business Manager Sally Ost stated that this would open up a social studies position in the school system.

Other hires include Dayna Czeck as the 4th Grade Teacher at Lincoln Elementary, Caroline Blumenshine as the Social Studies Teacher at JHS, Riley Carlson as the 3rd Grade Teacher at Roosevelt Elementary, and Heather Castle for the .56 Physical Education Position due to a 1 year leave of absence of Barb Williams.

Later, approval was made for a 3rd Grade Valley City Student to attend Jamestown Public School for the next year. Another agreement was made for a Kindergarten and 3rd Grade Jamestown students to attend Medina Public Schools.

The board then adjourned for negotiations strategies.
