N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Commission met in regular session on Tuesday evening.

During the meeting, Benefits and Accounts Coordinator Gwen DuBord stated that they needed some new appointments following the vacancies of two positions.

The commission unanimously approved.

Later in the meeting, Courthouse Supervisor Jim Fettig gave an update on the new roof for the Stutsman County Library. Earlier this year, Fettig gave the commission a few different options for the roof. Fettig reported that a metal roof would give him more advantages.

A bid of $42,980 was approved to Enterprise Sales. The commission asked Fettig if anything could be done about the Bookmobile garage space, but he pointed out that it wouldn’t really be possible.

Fettig says the roof project will begin later this summer. The bid was unanimously approved.

The commission later discussed the steps and sidewalk around the Courthouse. Fettig stated that he had been working on getting bids for the work for the last three years.

Fettig stated that they would need the new build to be ADA compliant, meaning the rails would need to be circle instead of rectangular and easy access into the courthouse.

Two bids were received for the project. Fettig says that bids were hard to come by because of the scale of the project. The entrance into the courthouse would be moved to the North door. He says the completion date would be some time in October.

A bid of $36,895 was approved unanimously by the commission. Below are some photos of the steps leading to the courthouse.
