N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – What started out as a few avid kite flyers getting together in Jamestown has turned into one of the biggest kite flying events in the upper Midwest.

Started by Mike Gee roughly 23 years ago, the festival features world renowned kite flyers and designers during a 3-day celebration.

Chris Dodson assists in the festival and has participated for the last 22 years. He says it has really become the best kite festival in the upper Midwest.

Kites of all shapes and sizes will be present beginning Friday, June 9th at Meidinger Park. All of the days events will be free and open to the public. Professional Kite Flying Team 180Go will be back again this year to put on a show and individuals will also get to build their own kites.
