N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  The Post 25 defense turns two double plays and comes from a 5-0 deficit to beat the Owls of Nelson County on Monday night 9-5 in a non-region match-up.  Carrington gets their first victory of the year and are 1-0, Post 162 drops to 10-1.

The Owls scored three runs in the first and two in the third, but Post 25 pitching held them scoreless for the next four innings.  Nelson County threatened in the sixth inning down 6-5.  Bases were loaded with nobody out, Drew Page retired the next batter on a popup, then the next batter hit a ground ball to second and the Post 25 infield turned the 4-6-3 double play to retire the side with no runs. 

At the plate for Carrington, Alex Stuszynski had two hits, including a single and a double.  Drew Page was 2-for-3 with two singles and two RBI.  Three batters for NC had two hits including Hunter Gibson and Colton Berg with a single and a double each and Bradyn Sand two singles.  The winning pitcher was Drew Page, who worked in relief of Stuszynski, throwing four and 2/3 innings, two runs and five hits.  The loss went to Cole Varnson, five innings of work, six runs, seven hits, five walks and six strikeouts.  Kyle Leapaldt worked a scoreless seventh inning for Carrington.  Eric Salveson worked the sixth inning in relief for Nelson County, giving up three runs and two hits. 

Next up for Carrington will be tomorrow (June 13) back in Carrington against Mayville for 2-7 inning games.  AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com will have coverage starting about 4:45pm pregame and will cover both games.  Next up for Nelson County will be Wednesday in Tolna against Harvey.
