(NewsDakota.com) After a bit of a slow start Monday night, the Oakes Post 36 American Legion baseball team played solid defense, scored every time they came to the plate; including six times in the fifth inning, to defeat Wishek/Linton 12-2 in five innings.

Post 36 (3-2 Class B Southeast Region) was hit three times in the first, but only managed to score a single run. The bats came alive for Oakes in the third, as Matt Grove drove in two of three runs scored to break a 2-2 tie; the first of which proved to be the winning score. Tyler Voightman finished the game with a triple, double and two runs scored.

On the mound, Taylor Schall was impressive; registering 10 strikeouts, including five in a row. Schall went all five innings and walked only three. David Jochim took the loss for Wishek/Linton (1-3-1), going the final three innings, allowing 10 runs on six hits.
