CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Wimbledon man was sentenced to 3 and a-half years in prison for arson and burglary.

The Barnes County State’s Attorney’s Office said 29 year-old Christopher Aaron Kraay pled guilty to Felony Arson and Burglary of a former U.S. Air Force Control Center near Dazey, ND on April 3rd. He pled guilty to Felony Burglary of a stolen four-wheeler near Dazey and Felony Burglary after he stole a four-wheeler near Wimbledon. He also pled guilty to Felony Burglary when he broke into a deceased resident’s home in Wimbledon.

Kraay will be on supervised probation for 3 years after he is released from prison.

According to court documents, Kraay set fire to a former military installation near Dazey on April 3rd and burglaries in near Dazey and Wimbledon.

Barnes County Chief Deputy Don Fiebiger said Kraay and another man used a bolt cutter to cut off a lock and gain entry into a former military structure.

The State Fire Marshall said a flammable liquid was used by the men to start a fire in three separate areas of the building.

Fiebiger said several items stolen from the abandoned home in Wimbledon were sold at a pawn shop in Bismarck. He said more than 100 pounds of copper wire and four saddles were taken from the site near Dazey. The wire was sold in Jamestown and the saddles have been recovered.
