CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Barnes County Sheriff’s Office has released information on two separate cases and charges that each individual faces.

The first is Alan Jeremy Van Dam of Fessenden. Van Dam has pleaded guilty to Theft of Property, a Class C Felony, and Criminal Trespass, a Class A Misdemeanor. The department reports that Van Dam stole ammunition from a vacant, rural Barnes County farmstead. He was sentenced to serve 133 days at the Barnes County Jail. He is also facing pending charges in Wells County.

In another case, 23 year-old Shawn Opsahl was apprehended in Minnesota after leading officers on a chase in a stolen vehicle. Following the pursuit, Opsahl faces numerous charges including Fleeing a Police Officer, Domestic Assault, False Imprisonment, Theft and Loiter with Intent to Solicit Any Act Prohibited by Law.

The Barnes County Sheriff’s Office reports that Opsahl is also charged with Theft that exceeds $1000 to $10,000, a Class C Felony when he stole a vehicle from Wimbledon. He also stole an X-box and games.
