N.D.  (NewsDakota.com)  Carrington’s Braxton Hewitt hit one homer in the first game on Tuesday evening and then hit back-to-back home runs in the second game as Post 25 improves to 2-0 in the Central Region by defeating the Blue Sox of Hillsboro/Central Valley 11-0 in five innings in the first game and 9-7 in the second game.  Carrington is now 3-0 overall, HCV drops to 5-3 overall and 3-3 in the Central Region.  

During the top of the fifth inning in the first game, Carrington scored six runs on no hits.  Post 4 pitching walked six, hit three batters, there was one error, a sacrifice and 12 batters sent to the plate.  For Post 25, Drew Page threw a complete game two-hit shutout with five strikeouts and no walks.  Braxton Hewitt hit a 2-run home run in the first inning and was intentionally walked once and had a sacrifice RBI.  Payton Smith was 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, two singles and an RBI.  Eli Nelson took the loss, working four innings allowing five runs on six hits.  Riley Pederson and Nelson had a hit apiece at the plate for HCV.

In the second game, clean-up batter Eli Nelson for the Blue Sox hit a 2-run home run to put his team up 7-6 in the top of the fourth inning.  But Post 25 would score three runs in the bottom of the fifth to retake the lead.  Later, Braxton Hewitt would come in on the mound and retire six batters in a row in the last two innings to get the save.   Hewitt hit back-to-back home runs in the first and second innings for Carrington, the first one was a 3-run bomb to left field, the second was a solo shot to left.  He ended the two games going 3-for-3, all homers, also three intentional walks and seven RBI.  Tanner Linnell and Riley Pederson had two hits each for Hillsboro/CV, both hit a double as well.

Next up for Carrington Post 25 will be another Central Region match-up on Thursday in Carrington against Hope/Finley.  Two 7-inning games are scheduled starting at 5pm.  AM 1600 KDAK and newsdakota.com will have coverage starting about 4:45pm pregame and will cover both games.  Next up for HCV is Wednesday at Harwood.
