N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Public School Board met in regular session Monday evening and made some decisions for the upcoming school year.

Some items approved by the board last night include approval of Membership in the North Dakota High School Activities Association, approval of Summer School Membership reports and Annual Financial report submission to the Department of Public Instruction.

Current Board Member President Roger Haut was re-elected to serve as president of the board for the 2017-18 school year. Dr. Heidi Larson was elected to serve as Vice President. Dates, times and places of regular meetings were approved as well as school board compensation and board member committee appointments.

Several students were recognized for their achievements over the summer. School board member Jennifer Schmidt recognized several students and Coaches Kelley Kessler and Mike Schulz.

Later in the meeting, discussion the budget for the 2017-18 school year was held. According to the latest financial forecasts, the revenue for the year is at $28.88 million with $29.13 million in total expenditures. Superintendent Robert Lech says the General Fund balance sits at $3.13 million.

Lech reports that with the final budget approved, the board will need to keep in mind that there are other things to keep in mind including federal funding.

The Mill Levy Hearing was approved for an October 2nd meeting date at 6 PM. Lech says this is held every year.
