N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Stutsman County Commission has taken steps to temporarily fill the position of Stutsman County Auditor and Chief Operating Officer after Casey Bradley announced his resignation.

Bradley’s announcement on July 6th stated his final day would be August 4th. The commission on Tuesday appointed Deputy Auditor and Recorder Nicole Meland to serve in an interim capacity until a permanent replacement can be found.

“We wanted a smooth transition with Casey’s resignation and we have a lot of great, capable staff who are willing to help in the meantime,” Meland said in an e-mail to NewsDakota. “This interim status will allow us to cross-train many of our positions.”

In a memo to Mark Klose and the Stutsman County commission, Meland reported some of the changes that her interim status would bring to the county.

County Treasurer Jessica Alonge will serve as deputy auditor and recorder for the time being. Current Deputy Recorder Jessica Moser will serve as County Treasuerer and her current position will remain open for now.

The interim positions filled will bring a cost savings of around $9,869.95 to the county.

These changes are set to remain in place through October to allow work through the budgeting process for 2018.
