N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The North Dakota Highway Patrol had a busy Monday near Steele following two separate incidents.

Sgt. Ryan Duletski reports that on Monday at around 5:25 PM, a semi carrying a load of hay bales was traveling southbound on Highway 3 near mile marker 112. The vehicle drove off the right shoulder and the driver over-corrected, steering to the left and causing the vehicle to overturn on it’s right side.

63 year-old Driver John Hiebert of Oak Bluff, MB was uninjured in the accident and traffic detoured for an hour while the truck was towed from the ditch.

Another incident at around 6 PM on I-94 caused a portion of both lanes on the eastbound track to close. This was due to heaved concrete from high temperatures.

“NDDOT employees responded to repair the area,” Sgt. Dulteski reported. “Both lanes were temporarily closed and traffic routed along the shoulder of the roadway until repairs were completed. Lanes were closed for approximately four hours and reopened at 10 PM.”

The Steele Police Department and Kidder County Sheriff’s Department assisted the NDHP with traffic control.
