(NewsDakota.com) Three teams remain in the 2017 playing of the North Dakota Class B Southeast Region American Legion baseball tournament in Enderlin after Friday’s doubleheader. The #1 seed and host team of the tournament has earned a trip to the State Tournament next week, while two others will play Saturday for the right to tag along for the ride.

Oakes 20 Ellendale 13

In the first game of Friday’s twin bill, Post 36 had an early 9-1 lead thanks to a grand slam by Adam Neustel in the top of the third inning. Ellendale worked their way back into the contest with a three run home run courtesy of Luke Wertz. In spite of the 33 runs scored in the game, there were only 21 total hits.

Grayson Roney earned the win, throwing the first five innings and striking out a total of five in the game. Kyle Johnson was the losing pitcher for Ellednale, going two and two thirds, with seven walks and two strikeouts.

Enderlin 16 LaMoure 4 (4.5 Innings)

In the lone remaining winner’s bracket game, Post 19 LaMoure took an early 2-0 lead after the top of the first. Post 221 Enderlin then scored the next 16 unanswered, including a trifecta of home runs. Peter Lingren hit a three run shot in the first, Adam Stenson had a three run blast in the second, and Jade Pulkrabrek had a solo homer in the fourth to send Post 221 to the State Tournament in Steele next week.

Stenson earned the win striking out nine. Trey Ness took the loss for LaMoure, going an inning and two thirds with six hits and two strikeouts.

Saturday’s action starts at 1:30 with LaMoure meeting Oakes. The winner will secure the other available spot in the State Tournament, and will play Enderlin 25 minutes after. Should Enderlin lose, a winner-take-all Sectional Championship Game will take place Sunday at 1 p.m.
