The opening ceremony included a color guard with local veterans, a huge American flag was spread out over the field with a man playing the national anthem on his electric guitar and wrapped up with a helicopter fly over. Local Korean War Veteran Bill Leier was honored before the game and name the honorary Captain of the Wiffle Ball World Series.

Co-event coordinator Bob Bergan said the event started out with 8 teams five years ago and grew to 16 teams this year. He said players from around the state including some from Dickinson, Bismarck, Fargo, Valley City and other surrounding cities competed in the event.

The ball players played in their bare feet on Saturday, July 22 for 6 innings. They only need two outs to retire the side.
