CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A few community leaders appear to be questioning the future of the North Dakota Winter Show as other leaders discuss a plan to expand the existing facility.

During a Valley Development Corporation board meeting, Mary Lee Nielson threw the question out for discussion.

But, board member George Gaukler believes the North Dakota Winter Show continues to bring in events that have a positive economic impact.

One plan on the table is to have the Valley Development Corporation purchase a 2.6 acre parcel of land owned by the Winter Show for future city development. The money from the land purchase could be used toward the construction of new offices for the Winter Show at their existing structure or other expenses.

The plan will be discussed Monday during a Valley Development Corporation meeting and the North Dakota Winter Show board will discuss the latest development during their board meeting Monday night.

The following audio is a discussion about the plan during a special Valley Development Corporation board meeting on August 3rd. The first speaker is board member George Gaukler giving the other members some background on this proposal.
