(NewsDakota.com) In their return to Class 9-Man football, the Oakes High School football team scored 19 unanswered points in the final seven and a half minutes of fourth quarter to defeat Hankinson 19-12 in the season opener for both teams Friday night.

Oakes started their run with Garret Meehl’s first career touchdown pass, connecting with Brackin Awender. The Tornadoes followed that up on a one play drive, an 85 yard power run by Logan Sell, and scored yet again on a touchdown run from Tyler Voightman. Meehl was 1-2 on PAT’s, but had two interceptions to seal the victory.

Hankinson’s Mason Falk threw for two touchdowns in the loss.
