N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – On August 16th, emergency crews were called to a detached garage fire in Jamestown.

Jamestown Fire Chief Jim Reuther reported that the fire was contained to the garage at 1213 5th Avenue Southeast. Further investigation found that the garage was being used as a living space. It was not known if the garage was occupied at the time of the fire.

Chief Reuther and Lt. Sheldon Mohr were on scene investigating for roughly 3 hours following the fire. On Friday, Chief Reuther reported that the investigation had been turned over to the Jamestown Police Department.

Jamestown Police Chief Scott Edinger says that it is an open criminal investigation, but states that is all the information that will be given at this time.

NewsDakota will continue to monitor the investigation.
