N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The University of Jamestown held its annual Block Party Thursday evening and welcomed in more than 1,000 people during the three hour event.

Katie Roehm, Block Party Committee Member, stated that they were pleased with this year’s turnout; going on to say it was possibly the biggest one yet.

New and returning University of Jamestown students were welcomed by upwards of 120 booths featuring area businesses, organizations, foundations, clubs, and non-profits. Roehm reported that there were nearly 300 transfer and new students this year at the University. A highlight of the event was when the students were welcomed by the Pep Band and community in a wave of orange, which has become somewhat of a tradition during the block party.

“We’re certainly looking forward to next year already and hope to make it even bigger,” Roehm exclaimed.
