N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Carrington Fire Department responded to the report of a tractor on fire on Tuesday afternoon.

The call came in at around 2:22pm roughly eight miles northeast of Carrington. According to Fire Chief Ken Wangen, the tractor was fully engulfed when the first crew arrived on scene. Fire crews were able to extinguish the flames within 10-15 minutes. The tractor and implement were a total loss.

In a statement from Chief Wangen, he points out that due to the remote access and the fact there were several spot fires, they called in their grass units, but had a shortage of members available to respond. He says multiple sirens were heard because of this. New Rockford crews were called in as well to assist with the spot fires and roughly three to four acres burned.

CFD responded with four trucks and 13 men with eight being on scene. New Rockford Fire Department responded with three trucks and four men.
