Evon Sandra Sako, 77, passed away on September 12, 2017 at Ava Maria Village in Jamestown, ND. She was born on June 4, 1940 in Minneapolis, MN to Elmer and Mabel Sako.

Evon grew up in Minneapolis, MN. She graduated from North High in Minneapolis in 1958. After high school she attended the University of MN and then entered the work force. Evon went back to school to get her accounting degree at NIU and later became a CPA. She worked for CR Industries and Fujisawa. In the late 90s she moved to St Cloud, MN where she was active with her grandchildren and her church, First United Methodist. She was a member and bookkeeper for UMW.

When she was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s, she moved to Jamestown, ND to be closer to her oldest daughter.

Evon is survived by her sister Marilyn Savage of St Cloud, MN; two daughters, Lauren Sako (Scott Krein) of Jamestown, ND and Elaine (Keith) Pyle of Crystal Lake, IL; two grandchildren, Benjamin Salomonsen and Natalie (Nik) Eccless; and her many cousins.

Evon was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Mabel.

will be held at Apostolic Lutheran Church at 9401 Bataan St NE, Blaine, MN at 1pm, Saturday, September 23. A visitation will be held at the church from noon to 1pm. Burial will follow the funeral at Cokato Finnish Cemetery 15960 20th St SW, Cokato, MN.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
