JAMESTOWN, N.D. (VCSUVikings.com)- Valley City State’s golf teams continued their busy fall season with the Jamestown Invitational on Sunday and Monday at the Jamestown Country Club.

Valley City’s top men’s team posted a third place finish at the meet with a two round total of 606 (305-301). VCSU’s second team finished in seventh with a score of 650 (327-323). The Viking women placed fifth at the meet.

Valley City State’s top men were the mark of consistency at the tournament. Valley City State had five guys finish in the Top 20, with all five separated by just three shots. Jared Lentz led the way with a 6-over par score of 150 to place 12th. Kyle Wiebe shot 151 and placed 15th. Cameron Rall and Jeremie Pasitney both shot 152 to finish 16th, and Casey Julson scored a 153 to place 19th.

Lentz and Pasitney tied for the top VCSU round at the tournament, each shooting a 2-over par 74 on Monday. VCSU’s top team showed marked improvement at the tournament, improving each round on  the 311 team score they shot on the course earlier this season.

University of Manitoba took first place with a 583 (295-288) and University of Jamestown placed second on their home course with a 590 (300-290).

Valley City State’s women placed fifth out of five teams on the women’s side of the competition. Nicole Heinitz was the top Viking with a 21st place finish and a 186 total. Heinitz had the low Viking round with an 87 on Monday. Jayden Romfo placed 26th; Taren Braunberger was 28th; and Megan McNamee was 29th.
