N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – With flu season right around the corner, community health programs are beginning to provide flu shots to people around the US.

Central Valley Health of Stutsman and Logan counties is preparing to hold flu clinics not only at their location, but also in area homes.

“We wanted people to know now and throughout the next couple months that, if someone who is home bound or has trouble getting out in the community, Central Valley will make a home visit to provide a flu shot to that person or their family members,” stated Central Valley Unit Administrator Robin Iszler.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, millions are sickened and hundreds of thousands are hospitalized every year from the flu. People even die from the disease.

“Most people who get the flue will have mild illness,” Iszler reports. “Some people, however, are more likely to get flue complications that can result in hospitalization and sometimes death. Pneumonia, bronchitis, sinus infections and ear infections are examples of flu-related complications. The flu also can make chronic health problems worse.”

The peak of flu season typically runs from November through March, so Central Valley Health wants to give vaccinations as soon as possible. That’s why they’ve reported that they will even go to homes and businesses to help provide that service. Iszler says all that they will need is insurance information.

“Central Valley wants to make sure all those that want a flu shot have access to one. Central Valley will come to your or your loved one’s home to provide a flu shot.”
