N.D. (JimmieAthletics.com) – Allen Jevning (FR/Brainerd, Minn.) ran for 130 yards and a score and Jimmy Hatch (SO/Sacramento, Calif.) added 114 and a rushing touchdown of his own as the Jimmie football team won their first game of the season Saturday, 26-19 over Waldorf (Iowa) University.

Dylan Klatt (SR/Crookston, Minn.) completed 12-of-20 passes for 149 yards and a pair of scores as the Jimmies outscored the Warriors 18-9 in the second half.

Hilton Joseph scored on a 12-yard run with 7:53 left in the first quarter to give Waldorf a 7-0 lead. The Warriors would make it 10-0 on a 22-yard field goal by Adam Rademacher early in the second quarter.

Klatt threw his first touchdown pass of the day to Pete Fehr(JR/Wimbledon, N.D.) from 12 yards out, and Jevning ran in the two-point conversion to cut the Waldorf lead to 10-8 with 1:55 left in the half.

The Jimmies opened the second half with a 6 play, 72-yard scoring drive capped off by a 24-yard run from Hatch. The snap on the extra point attempt was high, and UJ holder Josh Verghis (SR/Fargo, N.D.) attempted a pass into the end zone. However, Cameron Newsome intercepted the ball and took it the other way for two points, making the score 14-12.

Jevning punched the ball in from four yards out with 7:35 left in the third, upping the lead to 20-12.

Liam Huseby (SO/West Fargo, N.D.) caught a two-yard pass from Klatt to make it 26-12 with 11:23 in the fourth quarter.

Joseph tossed a 25-yard scoring pass to Newsome with one minute left for the final score of the game.

UJ carried 53 times for 196 yards as a team, while the Warriors finished with 103 yards on 29 carries.

 

Jamestown (1-4) hosts Dakota State (S.D.) next Saturday at 1 p.m. while Waldorf (2-2) hosts Valley City State (
