Coach’s Comments

We have been working on footwork, racquet prep, and being aggressive.  After the Legacy match, their coach made the comment that we have a good looking team that is aggressive and has good footwork.  This is coming from the coach of the #2 team in the west.  You all should be proud of how far you have come in a few short weeks.

The 3-2 line-up is used at regionals where players can only play singles or doubles, not both.  During the regular season – we play a 6-3 line-up where players can play both. There is a lot more strategy and anticipating in the 3-2 line-up.  We used a couple line-ups today to see what will work for us.  We haven’t yet determined what will work, but these matches help us find it!

With this team’s belief in themselves, their teammates, and our philosophy, we have grown this season.  After losing our #1 player due to injury for the season before the season even started – we could have folded and had an attitude that we aren’t very good and then executed that self-fullfilling prophesy.  Instead, we have fought for every point.  We took three matches off of Sheyenne, we were one match away from beating North and Jamestown.  Friday, we beat the #2 team from the west.  We have more wins this year – 5 – than any season for over a decade.

This coming week, we have two of the top four teams in the state.  I look for our team to continue to play ever point to win and hit the hi-liner pillars and let the score take care of itself.
