ROCKFORD, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – A Cathay man was killed after being struck by a BNSF train in Wells County early Thursday morning.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol reports that the 61 year-old Cathay man was traveling northbound on 58th Ave. NE at around 7:15 AM when he failed to yield for a westbound BNSF train roughly 11 miles northwest of New Rockford.

The pickup was struck on the passenger side, causing the pickup to roll into the north ditch of the railroad right of way. The man was deceased at the scene. There were no injuries reported by the railroad staff.

The crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
