MADISON, S.D. (PlayNorthStar.com)- For the second time this season, Valley City State University has swept the NSAA Cross Country Runners of the Week awards.

The North Star Athletic Association (NSAA) announced its fourth edition of the women’s and men’s cross country runners-of-the-week Tuesday.  Valley City State (N.D.) swept the weekly honors with Grace Miller being honored as Women’s Runner-of-the-Week and Dennis Gonzalez being recognized as Men’s Runner-of-the-Week.  It was the second straight time that both Miller and Gonzalez was recognized as conference’s runner-of-the-week.

Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week

Grace Miller – Valley City State (N.D.) – Junior – St. Cloud, Fla. – Miller ran the fourth fastest 5K time in school history and the fastest at Valley City State (N.D.) since 1996.  She was the top NAIA place finisher in the Jimmie Invitational, finishing 12th overall with a time of 19 minutes, 2 seconds.

NSAA Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Dennis Gonzalez – Valley City State (N.D.) – Senior – Riverside, Calif. – Valley City State’s Gonzalez recorded the fastest men’s cross country 8K in North Star history, finishing sixth overall in the Jimmie Invitational.  He clocked a time of 25 minutes, 27 seconds, the fastest men’s cross country 8K at VCSU since 1987.  Gonzalez was the top NAIA place finisher in the meet and led the Vikings to a third-place finish out of ten teams.
