N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Game & Fish Biologist Doug Leier is reporting that while pheasant numbers are down in the state, the ideal weather is providing a lot of other opportunities to enjoy the outdoors.

The North Dakota Game & Fish Department has reported in the past that pheasant numbers would be down this year due to extreme summer drought. Leier says that it’s been spotty reports for the numbers of pheasants hunters are seeing, but following corn harvest, they might have a better shot at seeing some soon.

Leier says while the pheasant numbers are down, the ideal fall weather has provided more opportunity for hunters in the state.

Leier says residents should also remember fall fishing is always an option.

Doug Leier can be heard every Thursday at 7:20 AM on Big Dog Country 95.5 FM with JD in the Morning.
